Pecan

  • Bowl – Pecan ‘green’ turned. No.10

This bowl is made from locally sourced, salvaged wood from the Coffs Harbour area. The tree is cut up by hand with a chainsaw and then woodturned immediately. The gentle wavy edge is produced by the shrinkage that takes place as the timber dries. We have no real control as to what happens at this point. Nature will do it’s own thing. The crack you see in the bowl is a natural deformity that opened up during the drying process. When this bowl was finished it was symmetrical and surface was smooth to touch. Once dry, it has a wavy edge and is rippled on the surface in spots. Each piece like this is ultimately unique and can’t be replicated, no matter how hard we try, making it a very special piece for your home. The completed bowl has a hand rubbed oil finish to highlight the colour and grain of wood. Handcrafted by David Barden.

    Dimensions – 260mm diameter x 90mm high approx.

  • Bowl – Pecan No.20

This bowl is ‘green’ turned from salvaged Pecan from the Coffs Coast. The natural wavy rim is created when the wood shrinks when drying out. It is completed within 2 weeks of the tree being felled. No, two bowls are the same, giving you a truly unique gift for yourself or that special person you have bought it for. Completed in a hand rubbed oil finish to protect for generations. Handcrafted at Wood We Create, by David Barden.

    Dimensions – 200mm diameter x 60mm high approx.

  • Vessel – Pecan with carved and burnt pattern No.7

This Pecan Vessel is made from locally sourced, salvaged timber from the Coffs Harbour area. The vessel has areas around the outside that have been carved to create a relief area that is then burnt black to produce a bold contrast between the two surfaces. The piece is then completed with a hand rubbed oil finish that protects and beautifies the texture and colour of the timber. Handcrafted by David Barden.

    Dimensions – 140mm diameter x 165mm high approx.
