This bowl is has been woodturned from Kwila, which is a timber from Papua New Guinea. The outside of the bowl has acrylic painted dots contrasted with the deep brown colour of the natural wood showing off some beautiful characteristics. Completed with a hand rubbed oil finish to protect and enhance the timber. Handcrafted by David Barden, Wood We Create.

Ever seen the Mantaray swimming in the ocean? It’s a sight to behold. This bowl is the second in a series of three. The subtlety of this majestic creature is the inspiration behind this piece. The gentle waves created when they swim. Nature is a wonderful thing.Handcrafted by David Barden.

Platter – Turpentine No.13
This bowl is made from Turpentine that was salvaged from Coffs Harbour. It is turned ‘green’, which when wood has not dried out. This bowl was completed with 2 weeks of the tree being felled. If you look closely at the shape you will notice that the form is warped. This happens as a direct result of the timber shrinking as it dries out, creating a wonderful shape in the finished bowl.
