Bowl – Mango

Made from locally sourced, salvaged Mango timber from Coffs Harbour. Once the tree is cut up, this bowl underwent a drying process of about 12 months. Firstly, woodturned into the rough shape, a little thicker than the final product. It is then left to dry and distort over a period of about 1 year. Once dry, the bowl is re turned into its final shape, taking care to make sure it is round and all shrinkage marks are removed. The last thing to be done is a hand rubbed oil finish is applied to protect and beautify the surface. Showing off the grain and colour unique to the Mango Tree. Handcrafted by David Barden.

Bowl – Kwila, with painted rim. No 6
This bowl is made from Kwila, a tree naturally growing in Papua New Guinea. The bright colourful acrylic paint creates a striking rim with the dark brown of the Kwila. The bowl has a hand rubbed oil finish to accentuate the natural grain and colour within this piece, as well as protect and preserve. Handcrafted by David Barden.
