Bowl – Camphor Laurel with piercing. No.2
This Camphor Laurel bowl was turned ‘green’, that is whilst it still contains all the water when the tree is freshly fell or falls over. The wall section is approximately 2mm. The patterned pierced, hole section, is done by hand using a rotary carver. One by one as the holes are produced, the pattern emerges. Although quite thin, its surprising how strong the wood is at this point. (not that I would throw it around). The completed bowl is coated with a few coats of a hand rubbed oil finish to protect and enhance the beautiful colours and grain pattern of this stunning timber. Handcrafted by David Barden, from locally sourced, salvaged timber.
