River Oak
Medium sized tree occurring along banks of freshwater streams & rivers and adjacent flats. Extends from Daly River in N.T to North East Queensland & Eastern NSW. River Oak makes a wonderful street scape tree and is often planted in clusters. Grows to a height of 15m to 35m tall. Often mistaken for a pine tree due to its similar foliage. Timber is used for specialty furniture, light construction, craftwood, & flooring. Close grained, mild brown to deep brown or chocolate brown with distinctive medullary rays creating radiating patterns through the wood.
